There is no way to prove or disprove a minor injury such as a sore knee or a slightly pulled hamstring. What the Colts would have to gain by not designating the injury would be to not let the opponent know about it. If Rivers got hurt today and Leonard had to come in, the Colts would not want the Seahawks to know one way or another whether his knee was sore or not.

o
So you’re saying the colts risked being fined by not reporting Leonard as injured on the off chance that, if RIVERS got injured, it might throw the Seahawks off if Leonard came into the game?

That makes ZERO sense. That’s dumb.

If Leonard were still injured, he would have been on the injury report. There would have been no reason for them to keep him off the injury report.

Yes, I'm saying that. And it's extremely naive for you to think things like that never happen.

And aside from the fact that multi-billionaire owners like the Irsays being fined $25,000, or even $ $50,000 or $100,000 is tantamount to the average American getting exasperated because they lost a dollar bill when they were shopping, there is no way that the league could prove or disprove a players' sore knee.

o
Jesus Christ.

I’m not saying things like that never happen.

I AM saying that there would have been nothing to gain for the Colts by doing that today.

You are saying that Leonard was probably still injured even though not even the Colts were saying that.

You have no basis for that claim.

Leonard wasn’t injured. If he was, the Colts would have said so, first of all because they’re required to, and secondly because it would have given them cover if Rivers completely bombed.

I’m not sure why you’re fixated on this.

I'll tell you what, Hoops Doc ...... I deleted all of my posts in regard to Leonard's knee. Our debate wasn't worth the trouble, as it's not that important.

I say that's it's possible that Leonard may have still had a score knee that wasn't reported by the team so that the Seahawks would be none the wiser, and you say that you're sure that he was completely healthy ...... no big deal.

I’m just saying what the team said. And they said Leonard wasn’t injured.

I’ve got no reason to think they were lying.

What is the purpose of Philip Rivers playing another down for the Colts this season? I will probably be accused of being negative, but had the Colts defense played the same way yesterday for Leonard, and the Seahawks offense played as poorly, Leonard would have won that game. That is just my opinion of course, but based on what I saw in the second half at Jacksonville, Leonard would have given us a better chance to win!

The problem is, I doubt our defense would have played as hard for Leonard, we probably would have gotten more rotten calls from the refs, and our OL would not have protected Leonard as well. You should be able to count on the same effort from the D and the O-line, and the refs should call the game the same regardless of the situation, but we all know that just isn't the case!

Unless Riley Leonard is hurt, he should start Monday night, but I'm pretty sure it will be Rivers part 2.

Until they’re completely eliminated from playoff contention, I think Rivers will continue starting. Steichen clearly thinks he gives them the best chance to win.

I think they’ll lose out. Hopefully Leonard will get another shot at some point.

I agree 100% with your entire post.

If Leonard had that effort from the offense and defense yesterday, he would have won the game for us. By the end, their entire defense was no more than 10 yards downfield on the snap because OMR could not push it further than that.

We will see but my guess is that CIG gave the ultimatium at the beginning of the season "Playoffs or bust" and Ballard / SS are trying hard to avoid the "bust."

If they roll Grandpa back out there, and I hate to say this but there’s no way he’s making thru 3 more games. They were looking at his shoulder after halftime and he barely got touched all game.

Put fuckin Leonard in there and let’s fuckin go

Shane Steichen: Philip Rivers will be the starting quarterback against San Francisco.

On Richardson, Steichen says "he's cleared from the eye standpoint, but we're just starting to work him back in physically"
