Hokies coaches started Hooker eight times in 2019 (the team won his first six starts) and he set a school record with 124 completions without an interception (99-162-61.1%, 1,555 yards, 13 TDs, two INTs passing; 123-356-2.9, five TDs rushing). He started seven of eight games in 2020 (98-150-65.3%, 1,339 yards, nine TDs, five INTs passing; 120-620-5.2, nine TDs rushing) but decided he needed a change in scenery. Hooker took over the Tennessee job early in the 2021 season (11 starts in 13 games) and ended up ranking third in the FBS in pass efficiency (181.4) and fourth with 9.72 yards per attempt (206-303-68%, 2,945 yards, 31 TDs, three INTs passing; 166-616-3.7, five TDs rushing). He threw 140 passes without an interception during the season. Hooker was an early Heisman Trophy favorite in 2022, eventually winning SEC Offensive Player of the Year and being named a third-team Associated Press All-American. After throwing for 3,135 yards (229-329-69.6%) and 27 scores (against just two interceptions) and rushing for 430 yards (104 carries, 4.1 per) and five touchdowns in 11 starts, however, he suffered a torn left ACL that ended his season. Hooker led the nation's top offense (in yards per game and points scored) with an FBS-best 9.53 yards per pass attempt. He also ranked second in pass efficiency (175.5) and seventh in completion percentage in 2022 and set Tennessee records by throwing 261 passes without an interception and recording a touchdown pass in 20 straight games. -- by Chad Reuter

Hooker seems to have had a pretty good college career, and he definitely can hit the inside of a barn
Now, now. Let's not bring anything objective like statistics into the conversation. We all know what Dam sees on this film he watches is the absolute truth. Obviously Hooker was just super lucky 70% of the time he threw the ball.

And all those passes he threw without the other team catching one, just unbelievably lucky.

It's crazy how everyone is just ignoring his mechanics as well, that camel toe is never going to work in the NFL.

How about a QB who completed 71% of his passes for 5111 yards 45 TD and only 9 INT? He'd be an NFL stud, right? Then why did he only ever play in 4 NFL games and complete 2/4 passes for 20 yards? Could it be possible that college stats can be deceiving? As for Hooker, his numbers aren't all luck, there are play designs for high percentage passes. If you don't care about having a predictable offense with no deep passing game, and very little potential of improvement from that, Hooker is fine I suppose. His ball placement and accuracy on NFL caliber throws leaves a lot to be desired.

You'd have loved Graham Harrell as a prospect.

Lol. So everyone but you is deceived by Hookers college stats.

Ok.

And are you really gonna go with the coaches at Tennessee just designed better plays for Hooker than Alabama did for Young or Ohio State did for Stroud?

Look, I don’t know whether Hooker will be any good or not and neither do you.

If you want to pretend that college QBs with inflated stats from passing offenses designed to generate those stats have never existed, feel free. I know who I'd rather have the future of a franchise riding on, and it's not Hendon Hooker.

Man, I hope there is not some kind of mechanism in your home that measures narcissism, it would peg in the red.

It's narcissistic to believe that a 25 year old college QB with good stats and bad tape doesn't have as good of a chance to succeed as a 22 year old college QB with good stats and good tape? Interesting.

Wow, where are you seeing that? This QB class is all over the place.

To be fair, Dam didn't bring Hooker's high school and college stats into the conversation, Jersey did.

I was at Texas Tech the same years Graham Harrell was and I've seen a ton of Mike Leach football. All of those Air Raid QBs had great numbers and none of them made it in the NFL.

Vince Young threw for 65% his senior year and was a career 57% in the NFL. Everyone could see he couldn't throw.
