It was a bad read, but the defense is the culprit this season. Looking at the point totals through four games, what we thought was a strength may be a weakness this season.

We can't get consistent pressure and we don't have the size and strength to maintain gaps and defend the run.

Even with the loss of Hooker, Leonard and others, this is not an excuse. Thought Sheard would bring a spark but not enough.

Sheard helps, but we were giving up points when healthy. We are fast and inexperienced. But I worry about the size of the dline. We just got mauled on that 3rd and short. The right side just folded.

I haven't watched enough college ball this season to rate Lawrence. He still reminds me a bit of Mitch Kramer.
