Stephen Holder just reported… Rivers left earlier then the team bus to go to the stadium and go over the play sheet and get on the field. Gave the team speech lastnight and told the team “Why not us”

Without question one of the craziest personnel developments in the history of the NFL. I just cannot get my head around any way this goes well. Box stacked, Steichen losing patience and asking Rivers to wing it- no way this can be a positive outcome. We lose by at least 3 TD's today.

If the football gods look down on us and somehow grant a miracle and we win and eventually make the playoffs ( a huge if I get it) this could be interesting. That would mean Rivers is not horrible and adding (possibly) Buckner, Gardner and Ward to any defense could change it immensely. Just dreaming while I still can.

When Rivers retired I wanted him to come back for one more season.
I guess he got the memo late.

River biggest problem, besides being old and slow, is that the offensive line won’t be able to give him time.
This is going to be one ugly game and won’t be much fun to watch after the first quarter. 37-10. |

Fucking solid title.
I hope for the best, but I am a realist. The last 4-5 weeks the O-Line has regressed and made a mobile QB move more than needed. They are gonna get O'Man Rivers murdered.

Monday Night Football, Bert Jones returned to the Colts to lead the team to a victory to keep their dim playoff hopes alive. I was in 8th grade at the time. I remember Mike Curtis was playing in his final season for the Redskins. Curtis wanted to hit Bert when Bert slid feet-first near the sidelines just before halftime, but Bert's feet prevented him from doing so. o

My guess is a lot of 12 personnel. More guys to protect and Rivers loves TE's

In 2010, I remember a game in which the announcers pointed out that the Colts were keeping at least 7 men in to block on almost every pass-play from scrimmage for the entire game, emphasizing protecting Peyton Manning above all else. I suspect similar strategy today for Philips Rivers. o
