Good golly, miss Molly!
Why cannot the Colts play the kind of Man-To-Man defense we saw last night in the Super Bowl? To misquote a line from "Hoosiers," the defensive backs on both teams knew the flavor of chewing gum opposing receivers were chewing last night. Coverage was TIGHT and windows were tiny. Even that incredible Cheats TD pass was CONTESTED. If our new, and hopefully healthy for 2026, CBs can bring that to the Colts defensive back end? Lights out....

When you know that the pass rush is only giving the QB 2 seconds or less to get rid of the ball, tight coverage becomes doable. If you have to worry about a receiver going deep after 3 seconds, you'd better back off a bit.

they had 3 sack leaders at 7 one at 6 and then down to 3 and under
Our secondary when healthy could be as good as theirs. Latu had 8.5sacks and then it drops to 3 ish for Buckner who was missed a few games and Paye with the same I think Lou gets us there next season At least close

To me, the last 2 SB's have shown there is zero that matters other than just assaulting the QB. You can have all kinds of shiny things, a bunch of super elite skill positions, but none of that is going to win you a game when your QB is on his ass. No sitting back, no elaborate slow developing stunts, just full gas going to the QB with everything you got. If you can't get there with 4, fucking bring 5, if that's not getting home, add another, fuck it if all 11 have to attack, so be it just hit that fucking dude! Just full commitment to forcing the QB to throw it way too early or just get blasted. Once the clock is sped up and the fear is there, it's a wrap. If somehow you get beat over the top, oh well, just come back and do it the very next play and possession but DO NOT ever let that fucker feel comfortable!
We DO NONE of this, none. You can speculate Lou will do that next year with a healthy secondary, from what I saw this year, I see nothing at all to say he will do it. I am not arguing that we have the assets but I am also convinced neither Steichen or Lou are believers in this plan despite the evidence being so blatant. |

The Seahags didn't play as much m2m as you think. Yes, they had tight coverage, with all of the their starting defensive backfield in place. How many games could we say that last season? Quote:
If you have an elite defense, then you can take the points and not take unnecessary chances. If the above is true, then if you run the ball efficiently and don't turn it over, then you don't need elite QB play to win the game. Look, on paper the Colts have many pieces that on par or better than the Seahags. Not mention that Old Man Phil walked off the field, with 40+ seconds left at Lumen field with lead, and our defense blew it. QB-draw O-Line-Colts RB-Colts WR/TE-draw D-Line-Seahags LB-Seahags DB-draw ST-Seahags Ballard, fix the damn D-Line, LB's and ST and go win something!
