(CHIEFS vs CHARGERS, 12/14)

The Chiefs just got royally screwed on a call that was ruled a catch by the Chargers ...... the Chargers' receiver clearly trapped the ball and the referees ruled it a catch, even after reviewing it. It was a 37-yard bomb just before halftime, and the Chargers eventually converted the drive into a TD. It cut the Chiefs' lead to from 13-3 to 13-10 at halftime.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are 6-7, and desperately fighting for a playoff berth ...... the referees in this game who reviewed this call and ruled it a catch are not doing everything in their power to see to it that the Chiefs will make the playoffs.

I hate to defend the refs, but they do not get to view it in slow-motion. IIRC, not even the replay guys get slo-mo, but get various angles at game speed.

If anything, slow-motion would have given credence to the illusion that he caught the ball, which he didn't. Gene Steratore pointed out that it looked even worse in real-time than it did in slow-motion.

Also, referees do get to review plays in slow-motion, and Steratore specifically pointed that out when critiquing the call.

More significantly, my point was that the referees are clearly not going out of their way to help the Chiefs, as many suspect.

I guess I am out of the loop, as I thought they did not get slo-mo reviews.

If I had a nickel for every time that I was out of the loop, I'd be a millionaire.
