SMU beat #10 Miami-Fla, their win against a Top-10 team since they beat Dan Marino's #6 University of Pittsburgh team in the 1982 season Cotton Bowl.

It was also their first regular-season win against a Top-10 team since 1974, when they beat #5 Texas A&M.
