Perhaps they will emulate the 1968-69 Knicks. That team lost in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Celtics in Bill Russell's final season in the NBA. One year later, they advanced to the NBA Finals and defeated Wilt Chamberlain's Lakers, 4 games to 3.
