So we are to believe one of the most high profile players in the league, on a team that the NFL is putting out there as a real live wire, we are to believe that on a Monday the guy starts talking to the brass about retiring and by the end of that week they've ironed out his retirement package?

Yes. It isn’t hard to believe. Ballard has signed free agents to deals in shorter periods of time.

Also, the Colts didn’t pay anything new. The money was given to Luck three years ago. It’s an easy call to let him keep it or not. It isn’t like Irsay cut him a huge check as a going away present on Friday.
