With no sports for now, what's good on Netflix?

Yeah, I know it's the damn wrong forum, but like Racehorse pointed out, no one reads the other forums.

Is Hunters good? Looks a little hokey to me from the trailers.

I watched Contagion over the weekend. A good movie I’m sure every one can relate to right now.

In the series, V Wars, there is a scene early on about a virus that is infecting people and turning them into vampires. The picture of the virus looks eerily similar to the ones of the Coronavirus.

apballin 03-16-2020 04:33 PM

Also Hulu

Snowfall is a good series

JAFF 03-16-2020 05:01 PM

Disney with the Mandiorian. Baby Yoda!!!

Puck 03-16-2020 10:12 PM

Prison Break Just watched it a second time. Very good

Jack Ryan
Shooter

Chaka 03-17-2020 01:51 AM

I'll recommend a few that haven't been mentioned. These are all older HBO shows that you can watch for free with Amazon Prime:

The Wire - I'm certainly not the first to say this, but the best show in television history. Period.

Deadwood - Not my favorite TV show category (Westerns), but this one's pretty fascinating nonetheless.

Eastbound and Down - The saga of fallen baseball superstar Kenny Powers. Danny McBride at his best. Very funny, and very crude.

Curb Your Enthusiasm - Seinfeld, but without the restrictions of network TV. Written by and starring the creator of Seinfeld, Larry David.

rcubed 03-17-2020 02:03 AM

Ohh, forgot about the wire. Great series. I liked how the perspective shifted each season. Last season was a little hokey though.

The last season was abbreviated due to contract negotiations with HBO, so they tried to pack a lot into fewer episodes and it suffered a little. Like many great shows and movies, The Wire was critically beloved but not very successful commercially during its first run, so it was a struggle to get it made each season. There's a book someone wrote about the making of The Wire that I read a few years ago, and from that it sounded like HBO was incredibly patient with the show despite the fact that it never performed well in the ratings.

Love Justified.

I traveled for the better part of 9 months last year, so had a lot of free time on flights. Here is some of what I watched, all on Amazon:

Sneaky Pete, Justified, The Boys, Boardwalk Empire, Carnivale. Deadwood, The Americans, Jack Ryan.

Justified was great, loved that show.

Last Man on Earth - guy survives pandemic. Hulu
What we do in the shadows - Hulu
Homecoming - Prime
Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Hulu

smitty46953 03-17-2020 10:14 AM

Anyone notice a lot of the actors from Deadwood were in Justified?

When Deadwood ran originally on HBO you could bet the Over/Under on number of "F Bombs" Swearingen would drop per episode.

Best quotes from Justified:

Quote:

People underestimate Bob at their peril.
Quote:

But you see, ten days ago you shot a man in Miami. Put it like this: you were in the first grade; bit a kid every week? They'd start to think of you as a biter.
The second quote is from S1 E1 and I about pooped. I was sold right there.

Elmore Lenonard what the inspiration for the show.

Yeah his book Fire in the Hole. Leonard liked the show and I think was a writer for it sometimes until he died.

Also another good show you don't hear enough about is The Americans

Same executive producer as Justified.

My wife is Russian and loves it, says its very accurate in its portrayal on life there.

Haha, no, just Facebook. Was a friend of a friend. Dated a couple years then she moved here for about 6 months and then we did the 90 day fiancé thing. Which is her favorite show, and pretty entertaining. Best relationship I’ve ever had with the least amount of drama by far.

Oh and Tiger King on Netflix is kind of nuts and wholly entertaining.

So that is a reboot of Spenser for hire which I remember watching reruns of as a little kid. And Spenser for Hire is now streaming on Amazon Prime. The best part of that show is the black actor who went on to play the captain of Star Trek deep space nine.
