Who are......

without looking it up, who are the current Colts on the roster who also played in the AFC Championship game in Foxborough to end our 2014 season?

So, basically, who are the only Colts who have been around longer than 4 seasons?

vinny, luck, ty, castanzo

Right on the first try! You win......well, nothing.

Man, our talent acquisition at the end of the Peyton years and the early Grigson years sucked.

4 guys on the roster since our playoff days. None of them on defense.

That is brutal. It is amazing that we have a borderline top 10 defense, a for sure top 10 offense and good special teams with how young of a roster we have and how little we have spent in free agency over the past couple of seasons.

The future is bright, Colts fans!

Walk Worthy,

We did have a defensive scheme change that is very different, that usually clears the deck defensively. But yeah, still doesn't look good. Grigson's only really good pick was TY. My god did he suck at talent acquisition. That orangutan at the zoo might do a better job.

remember that telesco was in on that first draft as well, then he left for the chargers and look where they are now....

I get irsay wanted something new but he really fucked that hire up.

Yes only 4 I can think of.

I thought maybe a long snapper or something but I think they cut and switched them even a few years back.

ukcolt 12-28-2018 03:01 PM

Yeah used to be Matt Overton (who is now with the Jaguars) and then he was kicked to the side for younger cheaper Luke Rhodes.

To be fair, he didn’t ask for just our players.

Pretty sure that Doyle was on the team at that time.

Whether he actually played in that game or not, that I'm not so sure of.

He was, and he played. Boxscore shows two targets, zero receptions.

Sheard, yes. Brissett was still at NC State.

Yep, but that depends on whether or not Sherck meant "current active" roster.

I don't want to go down a road here, but he asked who where the Colts who've been around for more than four years. Injured or not, Doyle is on the roster, and I think we all want him to be around next year as well.

And I think Sherck is damn good at saying what he means, and he said on the roster.

That said, whether it's four or five, that's some pretty massive turnover, and every single defensive player from then is gone. I'd say this points at Grigson being pretty bad at his job and Ballard being a keeper.

I thought this was his fifth year. My bad.

Here is the 2014 Roster

https://www.pro-football-reference.c...014_roster.htm

Doyle was on the team at the time. I would count him as well. I didn't realize he had been around that long.

Sheard was not on the team that year.

Brissett was a rookie in 2016 with the Pats.

Very true, Telesco should not have been allowed to leave.

Irsay just got conned. I remember when Telesco left and kinda wondered why Irsay didn’t give the job to him instead of some nobody in Grigson. I wasn’t complaining too much because that first Grigson draft looked great. I still followed Telesco and their drafts who I thought year-in year-out were very good.

The Chargers has a bad injury bug the last couple years which killed their seasons. Still after about Grigson’s third draft and Telesco’s second, I started to see a superior pattern of picks out of the Chargers.

YDFL Commish 12-29-2018 08:05 PM

Wasn't Irsay seriously addicted during the whole Pagano and Grigson hiring stage?

Not to make any excuses for him, but he probably thought that the 3 of them would be the next John, Paul and Ringo.

I think, at the time, Irsay was just ready to clean house and go in a whole new direction altogether, top to bottom, which is why Telesco did not get more of a chance

And then was not a bad idea at the time. It was just he botched the execution of it all and hired the wrong people as GM/coach to bring in as the new regime.

That’s a pretty tough thing to do, bring in first time people at GM and coach. Although he seems to have done it right this time. I think the difference between this past year and 2012 is that he sought out the opinion of a lot of respectable people around the league. Put in perspective the crappy job Grigson and Pagano were doing. But also helpedgwt second opinions on the up and coming people around the league.
