I don’t have any personal ill will toward Green. He’s not a good football player, and he was over drafted, that last part especially isn’t his fault. Grigson and Pagano were stupid for wasting a 2nd on him.

Well, that sucks !!!

Not sure I understand much they’ve done on the DL. I hope it’s the strength some seem to believe. Simon was definitely one of th better DEs in the preseason. He transitioned much better than expected. Why was he even kept this long if his performance in the preseason didn’t matter? He’s definitely showed more than Basham. Not a message I like.

I suspected this when I saw him playing late on special teams against the 49ers.

It’s a bullshit move, just like the Hankins and Anderson moves. Who will start now? And if they trot Basham out there, I’ll be pissed.

Fountain cut.

Getting more and more obvious Ballard sees this as a throwaway (developmental) year. He’s building for 2-3 years from now and isn’t worried about competing this year or next. I disagree with the approach, but not sure how anyone can claim that’s not the case.

They also traded TE Daniels to Seattle for WR Marcus Johnson.

Beginning to question Ballard's ability to build a roster.

I disagree that these moves (cutting Simon etc) means Ballard is playing a waiting game. First, he has always said that this rebuild will take time. So from that perspective, yes it is a waiting game. But I believe that he keeps the players that he thinks will help him now. He cut Fountain, a 5th round pick. The guy doesn't seem to have his ego wrapped up in any particular player, which bodes well for us.

What doesn't bode well for us is Ballard cutting superior players and making the team worse.

Ballard is being way too scheme rigid on the defensive side of the ball. I don't like that.

Simon, Hankins, and Anderson. All could start over the current roster. WTF Ballard?

That is some seriously stupid shit.

This is going to be a 40 year rebuild.

I think we're learning that Ballard isn't that good at this.

So do you believe the defense will be better with Basham on the field this year than it would with Simon? I don’t see how that’s arguable. If Ballard thinks the team is better this year without Simon then I seriously question his player evaluations. I’d say it’s more likely he thinks in 2-3 years guys like Basham will be better than Simon. That’s the only reason to cut what is currently a superior player. He wants to get the young guys reps.

If Ballard was seriously trying to compete this year then the WR core would not look like it does - where losing a 6th round rookie is considered a major loss. Not with the cap space available. I can understand the argument he’s doing the right thing, I just happen to disagree. But I can’t understand how some can’t see that he’s throwing away the next year or to and building for 2-3 years down the line. The roster and cap space are screaming it. And Ballard has pretty much said it when you look past the GM speak.

My biggest beef is that you can't make Austin Howard a top 10 paid player on your team AND have Reece Fountain not make your 53. That's emblematic of having a shit-for-brains cheap free agent strategy because you fully invest in youth, and then not investing (wisely) in that youth.

It's like Ballard thinks Luck will be here forever. You gotta make waves while the Franchise is closer to his prime than his twilight years.

I am pretty disappointed in Simon and Fountain being cut. I can only imagine they are hoping to sneak Fountain on the Practice squad.

Cuts drafted players...this may take a while. Good thing he's friendly toward the media, that'll buy him several more years.

Howard was cut, he's not getting paid. Fountain probably ends up on the PS, he will be paid.

You know better than expect fans to wait until the dust settles to get ranty.
