Deon Cain Injures Knee, Possibly Out for Season

Michael Lombardi
@mlombardiNFL
Colts WR Deon Cain suffered a knee injury in Thursday night's game against the Seahawks. Heard this might be season ending. Bad break for the Colts if what they fear becomes reality.

While he probably wasn't going to explode onto the scene this year as the hype would've indicated at the beginning of training camp, still, bad break and gotta feel for the kid.

Sucks. Ryan Grant is JAG and Chester Rogers is making business decisions in the heat of this battle. Consider me not very optimistic about WR2 this year.

Dam8610 08-10-2018 04:21 PM

Damn, I really thought he would be the surprise productive rookie out of this class. Hopefully it's not as serious as indicated and/or he gets healthy and ready to gi for next season.

Amazing how we simply cannot solve the WR2 problem.

We haven't had a legit WR2 since...Pierre Garcon?

Chromeburn 08-10-2018 04:47 PM

Derrius Guice went down with a MCL yesterday too. Just crappy luck. Although I wonder if he would be a 2, likely a 3-4 this season. Hopefully it is not a tear.

daedge 08-10-2018 06:08 PM

Confirmed: Cain tore his ACL and is done for the year.

It's a shame for Cain but I'm really not that worried about our wr's. With Luck at qb and a modern scheme where the play actually is designed to get a receiver open we should be fine.

Your move, Ballard.

He might not doing anything till cut down day. This may clear a spot for a guy like Ismael

rcubed 08-10-2018 07:07 PM

that sucks.

I doubt he'll do anything. Just roll with what they have. Anyone who heard his interview on Dakich should be able to tell that his expectations for this year are tempered.

Dam8610 08-10-2018 09:26 PM

They're definitely not keeping more than 5 WR now.

I’m conflicted on that one. On the one hand, I very much doubt they have 5 WR’s worthy of NFL roster spots, I’ll agree.

On the other hand, when your depth is that razor thin, you kinda need bodies.

Oh well, I’m hoping that the hype is real on Reich/Sirriani being creative/innovative minds that will find ways to incorporate Enron/Doyle and also Hines in the slot to negate the lack of WR’s.

Puck 08-10-2018 10:42 PM

This is the break dez has been waiting for

That won't happen here. They're all about building a culture, for better or worse, but it'll be without the likes of that guy.

Butter 08-10-2018 11:47 PM

That sucks, I had hoped he would be a steal in the draft. Time to sign Dez for vet min I guess. /s

Hines needs to step up his game.

And hell no to keeping 6 wrs

Agree. I don’t want him but that is what he’s waiting for. Teams to need a vet WR so he can get the best deal

Brylok 08-11-2018 09:13 PM

It would be nice to have Moncrief around.

Not at the price the Jags paid.

It was only 1 catch and against backups, but Pascal looked pretty impressive on the big completion in the 4Q. He's listed at 6'2" and 219, so has good size. He could be the guy to step up with Cain out.
