Buckner was placed on IR today. Neck issues are tough

Damn.

Ughh. Maybe the most important player on defense.
Run defense and pass rush will both be noticeably worse. |
Sounds like it's not the big IR... but that's a minimum of ATL, KC, and HOU (home) games.
Bummer. |
Get well soon, DeForest. We'll struggle without you.
|
But of course. Damn!

I predict that the Colts will weather the storm, and win at least 2 out of their next 4 games ...... after that I hope that Buckner will be back, but I also hope that they don't rush him back. It's nice to have started the season at 7-1, prior to the loss to the Steelers. It gives a team a lot of cushion to work with, which was the opposite of the position that the Colts have been in for every season in the past decade except for the 2020 Philip Rivers season ...... prior to the 2020 Philip Rivers season, the last time that the Colts got off to a good start to the season was in 2013, when they went 6-2 in their first 8 games. They did start the 2014 season at 6-3, but that was after losing the first 2 games of the season for an 0-2 start. o |

That really sucks. Get better soon, Buck.
With everyone healthy, add a good linebacker, and this team is complete. No weaknesses anywhere. |
I didn't hear it but on JMV it was presented that Steichen did not sound very optimistic that the Dec 14th, 4 games missed date, was likely.
Man losing Buck for an extended time is a crushing blow. Sunday we will see what this team is made of for sure. |
I would be curious what this neck injury actually means... some form of fracture to a vertibrae is what I would think give the length of time set aside to recover. Maybe a disc issue but not bad enough to require surgery... Get well soon Buck!
Serious case of suckatility no matter how you look at it as the schedule gets harder and I hope he can do well to come back and rule again. |
Have no fear Ballard has Taven Bryan on speed dial. The modern day Josh Thomas.

3 Daring Predictions for Colts’ Clash vs. Falcons (By Sean Ackerman) https://www.si.com/nfl/colts/onsi/ne...ash-vs-falcons ********************************* 1) l Jonathan Taylor Will Break the Franchise Rushing TD Record Jonathan Taylor has a chance to cement himself as a Colts legend, if he wasn't already one. Should the 6th-year back score twice on the ground, he'll set a new franchise record for the most rushing touchdowns. The Falcons have only allowed 5 rushing touchdowns on the season, but San Francisco 49ers star Christian McCaffrey did have 2 of those in one game. Considering Taylor's level of play this season, anything is possible. Taylor has scored 3 touchdowns on 4 separate occasions, and there are still 8 games left on the schedule. Hall-of-Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson set the NFL record for most such games in a single year with 6, but Taylor has a chance to match that record as well. 2) l Sauce Gardner Will Hold Drake London to Under 25 Yards Receiving This may be a bit ambitious, but Gardner has done it before. The Falcons faced the Jets toward the end of the 2023 season, and London was held to only 1 catch for 8 yards. To be fair, the Falcons' starting quarterback in that game was Desmond Ridder, who is currently out of the league. But that doesn't mean that Sauce wasn't locking up London all game long. London is having a career year in 2025, bringing in 47 receptions for 587 yards and 5 touchdowns in 7 games played. Just last week, London had the best game of his career against the New England Patriots by hauling in 9 catches for 118 yards and 3 touchdowns. Gardner will have his work cut out for him, but I expect the newly brought in corner to put on a show for Colts fans. 3) l The Colts Will Hold the Falcons to 0 Sacks Last weekend was a disaster for the Colts' offensive line. The front five had been solid all year, but they fell apart against the Steelers, allowing two strip sacks and five sacks in total. The group has a chance to right their wrongs in Berlin. First of all, left tackle Bernhard Raimann is from Austria, so he'll be in a familiar environment. The other four have shown they can protect Daniel Jones and plow running lanes for Taylor, which is exactly what can happen against a Falcons defense that allows the 10th most rushing yards per game. Quenton Nelson and Tanor Bortolini have been playing some of the best football of their careers, and with Leonard Floyd out for the Falcons, there's a chance the Colts can get to work against some 2nd-stringers. o |
Adetomiwa Adebawore can play, especially against the pass. I will be interested if he can hold his own against the run. He is going up against a backup guard.

I have a feeling buck won't play again this year. hoping I am wrong obviously

He was on-target with the first one, but waaaaaaay off for the last 2 ...... Drake London had 6 catches for 104 yards and 1 TD, and the Falcons sacked Daniel Jones 7 times. o |

There's 1 win that they got today ...... I think that the Colts need to win at least 1 out of their next 3 games in order to have weathered this Buckner-less storm. o |
Not sure what to read into this but apparently Buckner is being treated at Auragens, a stem cell regenerative medicine place. Doesn't say what is being treated but putting 2 and 2 together you get a spinal issue. I found it on Reddit Colt substack and confirmed it on instagram

They could end his season at any point, but given the situation and what stem cells do, seems like whatever the issue, it boils down to inflammation. Like a strain or joint/nerve/disc irritation... shit's swelling up... stem cells would speed up the recovery. That's where my caveman brain goes at least. |
