Ouch that one hurts

Kray007 10-18-2025 08:57 PM

I assume that they decided to take greater care since this is his second concussion since the start of the season.

Oldcolt 10-18-2025 09:19 PM

Sane thing to do

CletusPyle 10-18-2025 11:20 PM

Just saw this. Good lord

Ward should be back soon.

The Colts opened the practice window for Ward and Carlies.

So they have up to 21 days to put them back on the active roster.

Goddamn it, Sunny... I expected you to make a new "Ward Back At Practice" thread or something, not bump this one.

I even watched Shane Steichen himself earlier say that Ward was back and still when I saw "Ware Placed on IR" up top, my stomach dropped for a second.

Maybe that's more to do with the Colts' history of injury updates...

The Colts Designate Charvarius Ward to Return From IR

(By James Boyd

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/681...ussion-chiefs/

**********************************

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. will practice Wednesday, coach Shane Steichen announced a couple of hours before his team took the field.

Ward was placed on injured reserve last month due to a concussion, and although he remains in concussion protocol, his 21-day return-to-play window has officially been opened. The veteran cornerback could return to game action Sunday on the road against his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs, with whom he won the Super Bowl during the 2019 season. are 8-2 and were at the top of the AFC playoff standings prior to Week 11.

Steichen also announced that the Colts have designated linebacker Jaylon Carlies to return from IR, and he will practice on Wednesday, too. Carlies, a 2024 fifth-round pick, has been sidelined since training camp due to an ankle injury.

If Ward or Carlies is not elevated from injured reserve to the active roster during their 21-day return-to-play window, then they must remain on IR for the rest of the season.

Ward has only appeared in four games this year due to two concussions. The 29-year-old suffered his first concussion in the season opener and was sidelined in Week 2. Ward sustained his second concussion during pregame warmups in Week 6 after he and reserve tight end Drew Ogletree accidentally ran into each other.

“Obviously, the (collision) before the game was very unique, but he’s in a good head space,” Steichen said of Ward. “He’s preparing. He’s been working like crazy to get back out there, so, like I said, we’re excited to get him back out on the practice field this week.”

Ward, a 2023 second-team All-Pro, was a big part of the Colts’ 2025 free agency class, which also featured quarterback Daniel Jones and free safety Cam Bynum. Jones currently has the fourth-highest single-season passer rating in Colts history at 101.6, and Bynum has recorded two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Indianapolis believes Ward, whom they signed to a three-year, $60 million deal, can be an impact player, as well, when he’s fully healthy.

Not sure if anyone saw the stuff he posted on SM the other day? 2nd anniversary of his daughter's passing away- very very sad.

On a football related note, what he posted if you haven't seen, is not real promising unfortunately with him posting "f-k this money, f-k football" among other things. He is unquestionably going through a very tough time, which sucks, so not sure if we're going to see him again this year.

Grief does a number on people. They lash out, and then return to normal. I don't think the team would open the 21 day window, and then put him as a full participant if his head was not right to play, both physically and mentally.

Oh, I overlooked the full participant note, that is really optimistic. Feel like shit for the guy, hopefully he can find some way to allow the game to fill in such a horrible hole in his heart.

I can sympathize with him. I lost my oldest daughter September 2024. My life is not the same. My mental stability was questionable at best for a long time. You don't heal from loosing a child. You just learn to live different. A disease I never heard of in my life until she was diagnosed with it. I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy.

Lost a son 33 years ago, accident. My heart goes out to you, I get the pain. It is unbelievably intense. I'm not sure what heal actually means in these situations but I know you can be happy again. There are a lot of us out there who are. Love to you and yours. If you feel like it message me but I totally get it if you don't want to right now.

Granted that my following words are that of self-pity, but mother died suddenly and unexpectedly of a massive heart attack when I was 19 years-old. She was the only parent that I had, as my father abandoned our family when I was 7. Ever since her death, there have been times when I have felt like half of a man.

Pain is pain brother. None of us get out of this life without it (unless you are some psycho). Loss is loss. It makes us human and bonds us together as people. Sucks

Suffering is grace, but it still sucks.
