quick thoughts on the terrible titans game
1) wentz isn't the guy. he isn't the worst guy. but we will go nowhere with him. holds the ball. misses guys (had to hit pittman in endzone). sees ghosts out there. he isn't a real leader. he is a ginger. he just isn't it
2) the running backs are good. we knew that. hines is a weapon and a great compliment to taylor. we need to keep getting these guys in space. 3) fisher was bad today. he isn't a great tackle to begin with. we need better than that. 4) the coaches don't know what they are doing. why did eason make the team? this whole eason/hundley debacle just proves they havent a clue what they are doing. not to mention the odd rotating tackles. makes them look incompetent. get ehlinger healthy and cut eason. 5) zach pascal is our 1. that is just disgusting. pittman is good. campbell is a nobody. can hilton still play? who knows 6) our tight ends are just guys. 7) all these lower leg injuries aren't a coincidence. this is an issue 8) ballards huge failure with his 2nd round picks is very telling. Lewis does nothing. banogu and turay arent good. too many picks just not producing. we have no pass rush other than buckner. 9) okereke has regressed. leonard should have probably been traded. 10) if it weren't for blackmon, henry goes for 300 today. good on him. 11) even our good players (moore) arent playing consistent. nelson goes out and nobody notices. i think this team lacks true leaders. wentz and leonard aren't leaders. needs to be more accountability. 12) we don't do anything well. our defense is trash. we can barely move the ball down the field. zero threat of going deep. its just a mess. 13) what positives are there? the state of this team is just not good and that isn't acceptable. we have been saving money for what? to pay a fucking guard? there is nothing to hang our hat on as a team. not coaching, players, or scheme 14) untouched td to a rb in the flat? come the fuck on leonard. come the fuck on. 15) i fear this trade for wentz will set the team back years. 16) i will try and get more game specific as the week goes on hopefully. this game and this season has really been telling to me as where we are as a franchise. its not good. |

I think that if Wentz were healthy, we probably would have won the game today ..... and if the dog had not stopped to take a piss, he would have caught the rabbit. o |

I think you’re being a little dramatic.
Wentz has had like 5 practices since JOINING THE DAMN TEAM and was playing hurt on top of that and you’re done with him already? Come on, Omaha. I thought you were smarter than that. I’m not convinced at all the Wentz is the answer but he’s what we have. And he’s not been that bad, all things considered. If things don’t get any better, I’m not sure we shouldn’t try and salvage that first round pick AND try and get Wentz healthy, but I’m not at all convinced that we can’t win with him. The single worst decision made today was Reich giving Taylor 10 freaking carries in a game that was close all the way. That’s inexcusable. |

As to your point about Taylor, it has a bunch of people scratching their heads. The dude is one of our three offensive playmakers, but when he does well, we go away from him. I wish Tennessee was that stupid when it comes to Henry. |
I do believe if Wentz were healthy, we might have won that game. He had no lateral movement to buy more time in the pocket or roll out. A healthy Wentz could have done that. He shouldn't have played. Colts can lose without him just as easily as they did with him. My biggest fear, the team loses 12 games this year but Wentz takes more than 70% of the snaps and we give up a #1. If he's not able to move well, then don't start him.

Absolute bullshit. Mike Vrabel should be buying Reich dinner for a gift like that. Omaha also said Leonard isn’t a leader, so he’s obviously drunk. |

A month and-a-half ago, Jim Irsay said that he did not want Wentz playing on Opening Day against the Seahawks unless he was completely recovered from his foot surgery ...... Jim Irsay Says Colts don't Want Carson Wentz to Return until He's 100% Healthy (By Mike Wells) https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...rn-100-healthy Reich and company would have been wise to heed that advice regarding his latest injuries (2 sprained ankles.) o |
Some are saying we would have won this game with a healthy Wentz. We don't know that because he's NEVER HEALTHY. We're not even out of September yet and he's already had two injuries and missed time due to his selfish decision to not get vaccinated. Eagles must be laughing their heads off. Sit Wentz and let's see what Eason can do. We need to find out and while at it, get some of our draft capital back.

I'll try for the less dramatic take on Omaha's 16 points of light.
1. Wentz needs time. He really missed too much time. And suddenly the offensive line sucks and that's not his fault. But he does need to make his reads faster. 2. OK, I can't tone this one down. We need to control the game by running the ball. 3. I think Fisher was a good idea but he might not work. But he also needs time. He literally was not playing football until about 10 days ago. 4. Yea this is weird. Eason was supposed to be the back up and then suddenly when we need a back up, he's not the guy? Then you have to cut him. We could do better with Brissett. What a colossal fuck up. 5. I secretly love Pascal but he can't be any teams #1. He's a great weapon if he's your #3. Again I can't understand why they scratched Strachan? 6. TE's can be more than just guys but why don't we use them? 7. Yea OK its weird. 8. I don't understand letting Autry go. What happened to signing guys who did their jobs? 9. See #11 10. Maybe, but with a healthy DL we've handled Henry before. But this defense has regressed. 11. Leadership. You're right here, we have none. i don't want to start another vax debate, but its a problem that these "leaders" are also the antivaxxers. Leaders start by leading by example. They haven't done that. At least 3 of the team captains (Nelson, Leonard, Wentz) are antivaxxers. On a pro football team its time to leave the politics and nonsense at home and show that you're willing to do what it takes to stay healthy and stay on the field. If half the team can't trust these leaders, then they aren't leading. 12. We can run well, but we don't try. 13. Nope, well, just the running game. 14. See #9. 15. Probably not, because I think he'll be fine. But we need a high round DB or pass rusher. 16. Hard to understand, but this team got worse. I'm wondering about Ballard's choices in who to let walk and who to keep. |

they have zero faith in him. might as well cut him |

i don't think wentz is the worst qb out there. just that with all things considered, we invested too much into a guy that isn't the guy this team needs |

I think it’s too early to make any decisions on that because he just hasn’t had enough time. We know he can play at an MVP level. As for doing any better, he was who Reich wanted, so he was always going to be the guy. Plus, they would have had to give up more for Fields, who was the only other realistic option. Well, other than Darnold, who would have made even less sense. I just think it’s too early to say Wentz hasn’t worked out. |

He wasn’t even the back up today, for crying out loud. He’s done. They may as well cut him and move on. |

I’m wondering if Wentz is a slow processor. That’s why he buys time with his legs. So he can open the passing lanes up. I’m not sure he has any pocket awareness. Still would like to see some more. I was kinda thinking by taking away his mobility and forcing him to stay in the pocket was good for him. Force him to get that ball out.
Our linebackers are going to get a finesse label. Okereke, did he sit too long? I’ll give him the season at least. Our passrush still lags. So many draft picks spent on dline, will no one emerge? We have a strangely built team. I feel like we have some good players but not in the most influential positions. Our purported strengths don’t look like strengths to me. We don’t dominate… ever. I’m mean your strength should have some dominant games every so often. Maybe when healthy? We have Taylor but don’t get him enough carries. Hines should have a minimum amounts of touches in space. Pittman is showing up which is promising. We are digging a deep hole. I hate to say the season may be done by week three, but man we’re in a hole. Hopefully a win against the Phins will restore some faith. We may have a bad year and what sucks is we will probably lose our first round pick anyway. |

Our receiving options don't get open, they are all #2's at best. Wentz today on 2 injured ankles played much better than Big Ben, who should go ahead and retire now. |

The Colts reportedly made Autry an offer that was similar in overall money to his contract with Tennessee. The main difference between the offers was that Tennessee was willing to guarantee a portion (~$2M) of Autry's salary during the 2022 season (he will be 32 next year). In the grand scheme of things, that is only about 1% of next year's cap. I don't think Autry was willing to grant the Colts any favors either - I think he felt a bit disrespected that Ballard didn't want to extend him during the season like Grover Stewart and Ballard was willing to wait until the off season for the negotiations. |
I’m just fuckin baffled Taylor is clearly our best player on offense and we get in the red zone and go shotgun spread with Hines
Taylor should be getting used the same way the Titans use Henry right now, keep giving him the ball beat up the defense and protect and scared QB |

Someone really ought to drive to the airport in Nashville and kick Reich in the balls when he gets on the plane. |

See that great plan design by GB.
Adams walks in untouched while we run the ball up the middle 3 straight times - the same fkn play no less. |

Incidentally, it may not be just a coincidence that this was the first win for the Titans since October of 2007 in which they had a -3 turnover margin/differential. https://www.pro-football-reference.c...0710070oti.htm o |
Wentz is just as guilty now as he was in Philly. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, that his line was terrible and that's why he took a beating. Nope, seen enough, he won't throw it on schedule unless dude is wide open. Case in point, and a personification of why this team now sucks. Early in the game 3rd down, they load up, they don't just bring 5, they bring 6. Taylor steps up, gives him exactly what he needs to step into the pass, he instead pumps- obviously trying to freeze someone, and in turn basically has to just noodle arm it into nothingness. Terrible, horrible, miserable. It's a 6 man blitz, YOU DO NOT HOLD that ball, you don't hold that ball in high school let alone the NFL.
Then to flip things around and again shine a giant spotlight on how poorly coached this team is. I think it was mid 2nd quarter, think it was 3rd and 12 or something for them. EVERY, and I mean EVERY team in the NFL brings heat in that situation forcing a quick throw as to avoid the receivers or backs getting beyond the sticks. What does Ebersuck do, he goes 4 man only. Not only that, he for some inexplicable reason loads one side with 3 basically in a bunc and then ONE DE on the right side--- one guy on that side of the line. Did we fire a blitz into the giant void in the middle, did we run a stunt, did we do a damned thing to try to confuse the OL? Hell no, we rushed 4 dudes exactly as they were lined up. Tanny sat in the pocket, played scrabble, at a ham sandwich and then tossed the ball to a dude for 15 and a FD. Somewhere along the line this team deviated from being big, physical, fast, to gimmick gimmick gimmick. Not sure why but we've decided we are smart and we'll use the smarts to beat em'! Hey Frank, you might want to check on Charlie Weiss and ask him how his decided schematic advantage turned out... This sucks! |
And while I am here, this bullsh!t of EVERY F-king pass thrown over 15 yards being a PI, is criminal. This whole game is just trash at this point, very much unwatchable.
I know a bit off topic and posted because of what just happened in GB / SF game, but it also happened to us today so... Roger has destroyed this game. |

DE is a good example this season. How often do you think truly competitive teams go into the season without an edge rusher with double digit sacks? I’m not talking about for a season, I mean for a career!! I’d have to bet it’s not often. Yet, Ballard was comfortable with it. He prioritized getting his growing collection of athletes reps at DE. Long term over short term. After drafting a 1st round DE he used his 2nd rounder on another DE that will be lucky to see the field this year. He did this instead of filling one of the other holes on the roster. Could be seen as a great move 2 years for now, but provides no help this year. Long term over short term. Building a team is different than acquiring talent. Ballard leaves glaring holes in the roster every year. He does this because shorter term solutions have a cost he so far isn’t willing to pay. That’s more typical of a rebuilding team than a competing team. |

To think how much hope there was only a few weeks ago.....oh, how quick it can change. Given a first round pick is at stake, it was a horrible decision to play a broken Wentz today. Look, don't get me wrong, if he's healthy we have to play him and I want nothing more than to win, but he's 70% and wouldn't have even been able to avoid a retired Brad Scioli in the pocket today. Sit his ass. |
