The 'feel' I get for this team reminds me of the Shula/Griese Dolphins. Griese wasn't spectacular, didn't put up incredible numbers even for those times, but always seemed to make the right play. He didn't have a great arm but it was plenty good enough. They got a lead and ran you into the ground. The defense was starless (noname) but effective. I know they are totally different teams but man they have the same feel for me.

Steichen seems to have found his groove as a head coach. The team finally has some discipline-a difficult thing with this age of prima donnas. It has to help that we finally seem to have some veteran leadership (Jones sets a great example, Ward is a hard ass at CB and Nelson has stepped up with the loss of Kelly according to reports) within the ranks. Add to this how he has handled Mitchell (consequences for being a fucktard. Let's hope Mitchell learns and all this is part of the growing process) When Bachie screwed up he was out of the game it seem to be a trend that the Colts won't stand for this crap. Like all organizations it has to start at the top with Carlie-we may have gotten lucky here.

It’s amazing what competence at quarterback does for the rest of the team. Downs was almost useless with AR back there and I suspect Warren would be as well.

And Earl Morrall ....... Earl Morrall started more games than Griese did for the undefeated 1972 Dolphins when Griese broke his leg in the 5th game of the season. Griese didn't come back until the 3rd quarter of the AFC Championship game against the Steelers.

And Ringo, for the Beatles ...... Ringo was not a spectacular drummer, but he always played just what the Beatles needed.

When AR played in the 4th, the clown show offense was immediately back.

I am incredibly pumped about this season. I agree that we are a different team. What sticks out to me is hopefully anecdotal.

Yea, Steichen has found a better groove, but man he did that really stupid clock management thing / 57 yard FG thing that *should* have cost us a win of not for the leverage call.

Yes, the team seems more disciplined, but 11 penalties against the Broncos for 68 yards (players started to lose their cool), and another 11 against the Rams that was one of the many ways we lost that game. Last week 9....

Yea, Mitchell has been delivered a message, but why was he still in the game against the Rams to drag the guy to the ground.

I dont want to be a negative Nancy, but we showed we could beat a quality team but didnt, and we've beaten 4 teams that any playoff team should beat.

Dont get me wrong, I'm 100% on board, think we can beat anyone, but all of us have been here before.

Is your point that you believe that was 100% on AR? Seems rather harsh. I don't understand the hate for him. I would think we would all be pulling for him to be improving if for no other reason than there is way more than a zero chance we may need him later on this year. DJ is the man going forward without a doubt but AR is still on the team and still has immense talent. If he is learning by sitting behind DJ and showed that on the field if and when he plays, this team could actually get value for him in a trade.

I was impressed when Richardson instinctively ran toward a batted pass, caught it, and rammed forward for a 9-yard gain.

To me, that showed 2 things ...... that he obviously has his head in the game, and that he misses playing VERY badly.


If that constitutes a "clown show" from your 2nd-string quarterback, then I'll gladly welcome Barnum & Bailey to Indianapolis.

I admit I was on the AR bandwagon during the competition with Jones but cannot help but wonder how this year will play our for AR. Does he finally learn to be the long term answer for QB that we thought we drafted? Or does he pout and push his agent for a trade end of the year? I still have high hopes for him and trust he will get it all together eventually.

Well for one, I wasn't replying to you. But since you asked, yes, I think AR sucks. Harsh? He's in year #3 and he's shown very limited improvement in the games he's actually been able to play and not been out injured. He's fast and has an arm cannon, but he's made of glass, can't read a defense, and is far from accurate. Saying that isn't "hate". The world isn't black and white. I wanted AR to start over Jones prior to training camp. Daniel Jones has shown to be a pretty good QB so far this season. AR isn't. Throwing a ball that gets tipped at the line and then he runs up and catches his own pass is amusing...and athletic. That's great, but I want to win games. His only other throw was nowhere near a receiver. I've seen enough of that.
Since you mentioned trade value: I have a friend who is a Ravens fan. I offered to trade AR for the Ravens starting kicker (whoever that is) straight up. She laughed, said no, and told me that Justin Tucker was available. That's AR's current trade value.
