Between he, Jensen, and Pugh, it looks like Ballard is recognizing interior OL as a need and addressing it.

Pugh may want to play center instead of guard. He is also visiting TB and has their offer... they need an OC.

I wonder with the number of players being brought in or being shown some interest.... they are OC/G's.

Any reason to worry that Pagano/Chud broke Kelly too?

I think they're just the best guards on the market.

With all the bitching about not getting Norwell at that monster contact.... Ballard may be able to bring in 2 guards and possibly 3 and it will look like a bargain compared to the 66 million Norwell got

Melvin was arguably the Colts best player in 2017. Indy's in need of a new No. 1 cornerback

Sheldon Richardson signs one yr deal with Vikings

Seriously? We couldn't have gave him a multi yr deal?

It's not even that he got $13 million a year, because I thought he would get $12 million. But $30 million guaranteed?

Puck 03-16-2018 06:59 PM

Richardson deal will end up bing about 11 million with incentives....

No reason we cant offer Suh 12- 14 for a yr

Dewey 5 03-16-2018 07:14 PM

According to NFLN Adrian Clayborn is a Patriot. Ballard continues to strike out

Ballard apparently doesn't want good football
players. Forget about Suh.

CB Rashaan Melvin and Raiders reached agreement on a one-year, $6.5 million deal, per source.

rcubed 03-16-2018 08:12 PM

Wow Jensen got $10.5 million AAV with $22 million guaranteed on a 4 year deal. The Bucscan have him at that price.

njcoltfan 03-16-2018 08:59 PM

Jensen signs a 42m deal with the Bucs!! I’m really starting to wonder why we apparently can’t sign anyone.

$42 M is a good reason to pass on him, don't you think?

No, no I don’t. The Colts have a SHITTY OL and a boatload of money to spend, in two years that contract will be average, but what the hell, let’s let Luck get the shit kicked out of him again this year!!

Colt Classic 03-16-2018 09:20 PM

Nice to see Freaks Freakin out about the Colts not paying $20 mil/year for marginal talent upgrades. Keep on Freakin on.

This place is tame compared to reddit, but then the Colts board there is mostly really bad memes.

So what's the purpose of all this cap space if we aren't going to spend money to improve the team, especially to protect Luck? We have a lot of holes, sitting on our hands isn't filling them. I'm starting to fear that Ballard has the "smartest man in the room" complex.

rcubed 03-16-2018 10:03 PM

I love the daily articles "Colts can still get these FAs"

There is still time for things to happen, but I understand your concern. Honestly, I do think part of the issue is until Luck shows he can play we are not that attractive of a place to come for FAs. We can push much of this space into next year when we may be much more attractive, so throwing stupid money at mid-level players might be a mistake. I just don't think it is time for as much panic and angst as I am seeing from Colts fans. The sky may indeed fall, but it has not happened yet.

I can’t fucking stand dudes saying dudes they have never met anew trying to be the smartest guy in the room.

You are trying to be the dumbest guy in the room

There is still time but like I said last year, did we get better? Hard to say with that idiot pagano.

So far we are a worse team and we have a ton of cash. That is going backwards

Recognizing a problem & addressing it are two different things. Ballard isn't addressing shit.

I understand not overpaying for talent and I don't want to freak out about the season 3 days into free agency

But they have money that to some degree they HAVE to spend on someone and lots of not just holes on the team due to poor talent but literal holes with no one signed.

You can't pass on everyone. You have to actually field a team.

$6.5 million for one year for Melvin. I don't understand why you don't make that deal. You better be bringing in someone good to replace him if you can't pay that money for one of the few bright spots on the D last year.

You don't know if Ballard even had a chance to meet or exceed this offer.

They'll spend the money, but anyone expecting them to sign players on day 1 by outbidding every other team (AND having multiple players eager to come to a foggy situation such as this) hasn't been paying attention to every other Colts offseason up to this point. It has NEVER been the case here.

I don't think Luck and if Indy is an "attractive" location has much at all to do with it.

90% of it with these players is money. You pay them and they sign.

He was on the team and just became a free agent.

He had a great season, at the very least before free agency you give him some idea what you are thinking and what you are willing to pay, have some discussion with an agent what they are looking for in a deal.

If he is not even doing that, he is not doing his job. He had a chance to keep him from entering free agency before the offer even came from the Raiders. Or any team.

Exactly, they aren't thinking about Andrew Luck, they're thinking about getting paid.

You can think whatever you want, but I think many players do look at the whole package.

So what could likely happen then since the free agent market will be down to the bottom of the barrel for quality talent is that we will overpay to fill out our roster.

I don't really disagree, I am just not in full on panic mode like half of this board. I know you are not either. It seems clear to me Ballard is full onboard with a long-term approach, and I am not sure I hate it.
