In my rat's ass of an opinion, the Colts fans gained a certain measure of redemption by giving Vinatieri a standing ovation, in light of the way the way that they treated Andrew Luck (by booing him off of the field immediately after his announcing his retirement from football.)

I suspect that it had more to do with ........
A) Vinatieri is considerably older than Luck, hence even if he had quit after last weeks' game, they probably would not have been so hostile towards him as they were towards Luck ........ I think that they probably would have given Vinatieri a standing ovation even if he had retired after last week's game, and returned to the stadium today.
AND
B) I think that at least a certain percentage of Colts fans who booed Luck have reconsidered their actions at that time, hence they perhaps are a bit less judgmental in these kinds of situations.
