Brents is always hurt, so I get not giving him the nod there, but Jones? I don’t immediately understand how the rookie is instantly given the nod over Jones. What does he look like in pads?

Im not in the building but that feels more political than Meritocratic. Maybe it works out!

He is a smart kid, and can ball. It would not surprise me if he beats them out.

Jones and Brents both missed time in the offseason, so that probably has a lot to do with it. I would be surprised if Walley legitimately beats Jones out, but not so much on Brents who's basically the DB version of Paris Campbell.

It's less to me about whether or not he's pencilled as the starter.

Jones has proven he can play, Brents has made an impact when he can stay on the field, and now Walley is at least showing enough thave the team gush about him and give him reps with the #1's out the gate.

So not only should it be a nice little battle to establish who starts across from Ward... But it's nice to have the depth. Plus Walley and the safeties working the slot behind Moore helps.

Excellent point. Definitely a good problem to have.

My understanding is that Anarumo uses DBs quite a bit. I imagine they'll all get decent snap counts if healthy (mostly applies to Brents). That said, I just want the 11 best guys out there. If Walley happens to be one of them, great.

Even Samuel Womack is a nice option, especially if he ends up being CB 6. A roster of Ward, Moore, Jones, Walley, Brents and Womack gives me confidence, that even if we were to suffer an injury we have some decent options on the bench who have seen significant playing time (besides Walley).

Even Rodney Thomas appears to be making some plays in this defense in training camp so far. So the safety room is possibly looking a little brighter as well. Even if i would have liked the Colts to have re-signed Blackmon. Hopefully Daniel Scott can stay healthy and be the No. 4 guy.

Guess I'll keep my mouth shut next time. First I read that Brents is sitting out with a hamstring.

Then I read 5 mins ago that Jones got carted off the field with a hamstring. Ask Jelani Woods if those linger. Goddamn it.

Because it is Brents, and because it is the Colts, in 5 days we will probably find out that he has to have his leg amputated. ;)

Colts CB room already had a lot of injuries...now add another. Hopefully nothing too serious.

Colts rookie CB Justin Walley, one of the breakout players of camp, suffered a knee injury in today's practice. He sat out the second half with an ice pack on it.

Indy's secondary is hurting with Jaylon Jones and JuJu Brents nursing hamstrings and Charvarius Ward limited.

So frustrating.
