(ONE YEAR LATER)

Colts wide receivers coach Reggie Wayne came away impressed not only by Alec Pierce's 2 deep-ball receptions, but with an 8-yard snag Pierce made in Week 1 against the Houston Texans.

One very bright spot in the Colts' otherwise dreary 2-3 start to the 2024 season is the fact that Alec Pierce ) leads the NFL with 28.3 Yards-Per-Catch.

Depending on what you consider the modern era of NFL football. Alec Peirce has a chance to break the NFL single season record for YPR.

Googling the modern era of the NFL gives me 1966 or would 1978 be the more appropriate year, because of the passing rules changes?

I've listed the top 25 listed on Pro Football Reference.

Jimmy Orr and Roger are prominent Colts names.

Take a look at almost every WR that was taken within 15 picks of Pierce, either before or after. We have: Christian Watson, Wan'Dale Robinson, John Metchie, TyQuan Thornton, George Pickens and Skyy Moore, or even Treylon Burks who was taken at #18.

Tell me which of those WR's that you would take over Pierce?

Pierce reminds me of Roger Carr. That dude has been stymied by weak armed QB's. He's finally showing what he can do with guys like AR and Mafia Joe Flacco

Skye fucking Moore isn't worth a shit. He couldn't carry Pierce's jock strap. What the fuck has Skye Moore accomplished so far? Not a damn thing, that's what. Pierce get's plenty of separation. We just had weak ass armed QB's until AR and Flacco.

There's a case for George Pickens.

Based on talent alone, sure.

But Pickens brings so much added drama.

And, at the time of the draft, he was coming off an ACL injury...although he did return for a few games at the tail end of his last college football season.

Ahhh...Roger Carr. My favorite Colts WR from my childhood. He and Bert Jones were the dessert after a meal of Lydell Mitchell. I will never love a team as much as I loved the 1975 Baltimore Colts.
